10 years ago today, on October 24th, 2014…
Detective Michael Davis was shot and killed while taking part in a massive manhunt for the murderer of Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
The subject who murdered Deputy Oliver, assisted by a female accomplice, carjacked a vehicle and fled up I-80 after killing Deputy Oliver. They exited the highway in Auburn, before stopping on the side of the road off Maidu Drive.
After being shot, Detective Davis was transported to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was later apprehended.
Detective Davis had served with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years.
Detective Davis’ father, Investigator Michael Davis Sr., was killed in the line of duty on October 24th, 1988, while serving with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Their line-of-duty deaths occurred exactly 26 years apart to the day.
On this day, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis Family and all who knew Detective Davis.
May Michael rest in peace. He will never be forgotten. 🕯

In 1951, William Elam began his term as the elected Placer County Sheriff. He ran against four men, including the incumbent, E. J. Kenison, and won. Elam had served 19 years with the Roseville Police Department, including a time as Chief of Police, before being elected sheriff. Sheriff Elam was credited with the use of radio transmitters in sheriff’s office vehicles.
He died on October 1st, when his car went off the road near Tahoe City. He had gone to the Lake Tahoe area to serve civil papers and check with deputies. With no witnesses, it was never determined how Elam died. However, speculation was that his car skidded on the wet highway and went out of control. The vehicle plunged down a 100’ cliff at Dollar Hill and Sheriff Elam was killed. He was 46 years old and left behind a wife and two children.

On this day we honor the brave Americans who met the terror of September 11 with extraordinary acts of courage and sacrifice.
Thousands of Americans died in the events of that day and thousands more in the years to come as our country sought justice for the terrorists acts committed against our country.
On this day let us remember the sacrifice of our fellow Americans and honor their memory.

One of our Placer County Deputies recently received news that no family deserves to hear…their 2-year old son Louie was diagnosed with leukemia.
In the coming weeks and months our Deputy will be away from work and supporting his son and family through the treatment process.
A GoFundMe donation link has been established and all the proceeds will go to the family to help offset the costs of treatment for little Louie.
We would greatly appreciate any donations to the Forneris family in this very difficult time.
❤️❤️❤️
